I looked at the news today and wherever I looked, it said the same thing as yesterday. But there comes a time when too much talk makes things worse, raises fear and anxiety and does nothing actually beneficial.

So I’m changing things up!

In this issue I want to cover natural ways to raise energy and stave off anxiety and depression. Things to do to bring spirits up, not down.

While there are obviously real life concerns with everything going on, there are ways to prevent or lower stress, anxiety and depression levels.

First is your food. You want to work to stay away from high sugar foods, this includes starchy foods such as pizza and pastas, and keep up protein intake.

High sugar/starchy foods increase sugar levels which in turn increase insulin levels and can make one more depressed than they would be otherwise.

Low levels of protein can signal to the body that it needs to go into “famine-mode” (basically tells it that it needs to stock up on fat for the future as this may be a low food time).

It then lowers energy production so as not to waste any, increasing exhaustion and depression, and also increases hunger/cravings for unhealthy fatty foods and carbohydrates which further raise insulin levels and lower energy.

So stay healthy, it really does make a difference!

Next, try to get in some exercise, even if you normally don’t exercise. This alone can release endorphins, making one feel better, as well as increase energy, lowering exhaustion and reducing stress and anxiety.

While these things won’t cure everything, they will definitely help.

And if you’re already stressed about real-life situations you don’t need the additional stress and depression brought on by poor diet or lack of exercise.

I hope that helps.

Have a great week,
